Cargolux Airlines International S.A. has announced a return to Rio de Janeiro with a full freighter service expected to start on 4 March 2016. Flight CV7645 is due to leave Luxembourg on Fridays at 12.00h and arrive in Rio de Janeiro at 23.30h (all times GMT). The flight is then expected to continue to Viracopos before returning to Europe as CV7656. Arrival in Luxembourg is scheduled for Saturdays at 15.30h.
According the announcement, the return to Rio was driven by growing demand for pre-Olympic Games freight capacity between March and August. The Olympic Summer Games 2016 will take place from 5 August to 21 August.
In addition, Cargolux expects to carry car parts and spares, chemicals, electrical goods, consolidated freight and household goods on its services to Rio de Janeiro.
Alongside Viracopos/São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Cargolux also serves the Brazilian gateways Manaus, Petrolina and Curitiba.
