Award for Ti’s Chief Executive for supply chain risk research

Transport Intelligence is delighted to announce that its Chief Executive, Professor John Manners-Bell, was presented with an award at the inaugural Royal Logistic Corps Foundation Awards dinner for his work on supply chain risk.

His submission to the Foundation’s ‘Review’ magazine, entitled ‘Engineering the Resilient Supply Chain’, dealt with the challenges faced by manufacturers, retailers and governments in today’s increasingly unstable global environment. It examined why supply chains are more at risk than ever before, and detailed many of the evolving threats. These include environmental, economic, societal as well as security and technological.

Prof Manners-Bell commented, ‘I am very honoured to have received this award. Supply chain risk has forced itself onto corporate and government agendas over the past few years but despite this very few organisations fully understand the threat to their operations. The Royal Logistic Corps Foundation, bringing together industry, academia and military logistics, is a very important initiative which, amongst its other aims, will help to address this issue.’

The first annual RLC Foundation Awards night was held at the RHQ RLC Officers’ Mess in Deepcut, Surrey. The awards and the night itself was to celebrate the logistic achievements, developing relationships and professional excellence of members of The Royal Logistic Corps, industry logisticians and academics.
