Australia Post has announced plans to continue developing e-commerce and e-Government services by partnering with data innovation group Data61.
Over the next two years Australia Post intends to leverage its Post Office and digital network to partner with CSIRO’s Data61’s digital and cyber expertise across three priority areas consisting of trusted services, digital government services and the future of logistics.
Australia Post Managing Director and Group CEO Ahmed Fahour, said, “We are continuing to directly invest in ideas that will improve the lives of our customers and our partnership with Data61 further demonstrates this.” He added, “This business-driven approach will bring short-term teams together to understand what does and doesn’t work for our customers.”
Data61 CEO, Adrian Turner, said “Australia Post is one of the country’s largest supporters of eCommerce – working together will give us the ability to unleash the potential in Australian industry by establishing a stronger local and global presence and delivering solutions that contribute to the nation’s economic growth and prosperity.”
This partnership builds on Australia Post’s recent announcement of a AU$20m innovation fund where Australia Post directly invests in e-commerce businesses.
