Shipt appoints former Starbucks executive

Shipt, an app-based grocery delivery service, announced it has named Joe Manning, former Starbucks director of business development and channel development, to lead business development for the company. As the company plans to expand its grocery delivery platform, Manning is expected to establish and grow partnerships with grocers and consumer product companies.

Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt, said of the appointment, “The Shipt marketplace and logistics platform allows grocers to serve the growing demand for grocery delivery. With the addition of Joe, we are positioned to forge additional partnerships and further our mission of simplifying lives for families and helping grocers grow their incremental sales.” He added, “I am confident that Joe’s experience developing relationships with national and regional grocers will lead to a number of key relationships that will move our company forward, helping us expand our footprint across the country.”

Through the Shipt app, members shop groceries, note any preferences, choose a one-hour delivery window for their groceries to be delivered and pay for their order. Shipt connects members with local Shipt Shoppers to shop at partner grocers, pick their items and deliver them to the member’s home or office as soon as one hour after the order. Shipt’s grocery delivery service currently operates in 24 cities across the US.
