The Rhenus Group has announced plans to expand its services in South East Asia. In August, it will launch a fourth Indonesian site in Surabaya, adding to its two sites in Jakarta and its location in Semarang, which it launched in February 2017.

From the representative offices in Semarang and Surabaya, the company will offer air and sea freight services, customs clearance and trucking. From the site in Semarang, Rhenus currently deals with volumes in the automobile, furniture and textile sectors as well as skilled crafts and trades. It expects trade of plastic products, tobacco, furniture and shoes to play an important role in Surabaya.

Remo Husser, Managing Director of Rhenus Logistics Indonesia, said, “The demand for efficient and reliable logistics services is high. The number of consignments that we’re handling in Semarang is increasing all the time and we’ve been able to register strong growth in Jakarta too.”

Alongside international transport operations between Asia and Europe, Australia and the USA, Rhenus in Indonesia also organises services within Asia – for example, between Indonesia and Thailand or the Philippines. The Rhenus Group has set its sights on further expansion in the region. Its Indonesian subsidiary was certified by IATA at the end of May and the group is planning to open at least ten branches in the Asia Pacific region in 2017 alone.
