Yusen Logistics announces new temperature-controlled facility in Hong Kong

Yusen Logistics has announced the opening of a temperature-controlled facility at the Tsuen Wan Logistics Centre in Hong Kong on March 14. The facility, the company’s first refrigerated storage operation in Hong Kong, is expected to support the rising demand for food imports Japan and Europe, primarily driven by e-commerce.

The 17,000 sq m Tsuen Wan Logistics Centre is located 25km from the Hong Kong Airport and 5km from the container terminal. The facility had previously provided various types of logistics services for electrical and electronic goods.

According to the announcement, the chilled facility provides storage at a temperature range between 2˚C and 5˚C and the frozen facility provides storage between -18˚C and -15˚C. This is expected to enable Yusen Logistics to handle a range of products, including processed foods, perishable commodities and alcoholic beverages.

In addition to handling refrigerated and frozen goods, the facility is also planned to provide storage, entering and dispatching, processing for distribution (sorting and labelling), packaging and inventory for non-residents.
