XPO Logistics wins new multi-million pound contract

XPO Logistics has announced it has secured a multi-million pound, three-year contract with door manufacturer Door-Stop International, to deliver products from its site in Nottingham to customers across the UK.

Part of the global Masonite group, Door-Stop designs and manufactures, built-to-order composite external doors. Orders placed through Door-Stop’s online ordering system are expected to be manufactured and delivered in four days. According to the company, approximately 80% of deliveries are made to installation sites, and the rest are shipped to builders’ merchants.

XPO Logistics has announced it has redesigned Door-Stop’s supply chain to ensure execution of approximately 4,500 deliveries a month, totalling over 10,000 doors. XPO Logistics plans to use its nationwide network to cost effectively truck high volumes of goods into depots at Rochester and Gloucester using custom-made stillages.

Two-man XPO Logistics teams are expected to complete the last mile deliveries with a regionally based, customised fleet of sprinter vans with an on-call XPO Logistics technical team available to fix minor door issues on site.

Paul Conway, director of international logistics and SIOPS for Door-Stop International, said of the announcement, “XPO Logistics’ innovative outbase solution enables us to provide our customers with an even more reliable and cost effective delivery service.” Adding, “This supports DoorStop’s philosophy of supplying customer-specific products that are easy to buy, easy to sell and – critically – quick to obtain.”
