Valio selects XPO to handle all logistics operations in Saint Petersburg

XPO Logistics has been awarded a contract by Valio LLC, the Russian subsidiary of Finnish dairy producer Valio Group, to manage its warehousing and distribution operations in the Saint Petersburg area, Russia.

XPO will provide a full range of logistics services to Valio, including storage and picking, as well as value-added services for repacking and labelling. In addition, XPO will distribute Valio products in Saint Petersburg and the surrounding region. The two companies have already worked together in Russia for several years, with XPO providing for receipt of inbound goods and transport of outbound deliveries to retail points of sale.

Finska Kari, managing director of Valio in Russia, said, “Valio and XPO share the same values, such as quality and reliability in all operations. The high level of XPO’s service convinced us to extend our partnership and entrust XPO with all of our logistics operations in the Saint Petersburg region.”

XPO will support Valio from a multi-customer site in Saint Petersburg, that was recently expanded by an additional 5,000 sq m.

Richard Cawston, managing director of supply chain, XPO Logistics Europe, said, “We’re proud to support Valio with the expansion of our logistics capabilities in Russia. XPO is a market leader in temperature-controlled supply chain operations at the European level. We can leverage our multinational expertise to support our local and global customers in Russia.”
