Spanish post office Correos expands electric van and tricycle fleet

Correos has acquired 40 electric vans, doubling the number of such vehicles in its fleet to 80.

It has deployed them in 16 locations across Spain: Madrid, Valladolid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Hierro, Santander, Alicante, Palma de Mallorca, Castellón de la Plana , Cádiz, Córdoba, Jaén, Seville, Las Palmas, Puerto de la Cruz and San Sebastián de la Gomera.

Renault is the supplier of the post office’s electric fleet.

Correos has also acquired four assisted pedalling electric tricycles for use in Malaga, Cordoba, Granada and Getafe.

It asserts that such vehicles are only suitable for mail and parcels distribution in busy city centres with bicycle lanes.

Correos first introduced electric vehicles to its fleet in 2008.
