GEODIS launches online pricing and online booking for air and ocean shipments globally

GEODIS has begun offering online quotes and shipment bookings through its Intelligent Real-Time Information System (IRIS). Within just a few clicks, customers can compare rates of different modes of transport, and place shipments within less than a minute. The quotation and booking feature has been rolled out gradually across the globe, starting in February 2018.

Accessible 24/7, the application provides full visibility on shipment statuses in real-time, access to shipment related documentation, label printing, KPI management, mile-stone alerts, exception management and customized reporting including financials.

The online quotation and booking features are the latest IRIS developments. IRIS automates key steps in the booking process, which GEODIS says increases data accuracy and saves working time for both the customers and GEODIS operators. The pricing engine offers visibility on end-to-end cost structures, covering port-to-port rates, local charges, pick-up, and first and final mile deliveries.

Kim Pedersen, GEODIS’ Executive Vice President Freight Forwarding, said, “IRIS is bringing us into the forefront of digitalization in the freight forwarding industry. It is a constantly evolving, robust and innovative platform that enables our customers to take their supply chain management to the next level, far beyond track & trace. More than 20,000 of our customers are using IRIS already today, and it will help them and many more to become more efficient, now and in the future.”

The quotation and booking features are already live in several countries, including Belgium, Indonesia, Sweden and the USA.
