Gemadept and “K” Line break ground on vehicle processing centre in Vietnam

Gemadept, a Vietnamese logistics provider, and “K” Line, a Japanese car carrier, have commenced construction of a vehicle processing centre in Vietnam.

The centre will be constructed on a 20,000 sq m site at Long Hau Industrial Zone in Long An Province. Buildings on site will include a 14,880 sq m warehouse for storing vehicles, a 1,400 sq m maintenance and repair workshop and an office building among others.

The facility will be set up through the two companies’ joint venture, “K” line – GMD Logistics Company Limited (KGL). The entity has a track record of providing container depots services in Vietnam, though this latest move marks its first foray into the provision of finished vehicle logistics. The centre’s primary service offering will be pre-delivery inspection (PDI) of vehicles.

The total investment of the project is in excess of VND111bn. The centre is expected to open by November 2016.
