DB Schenker opens first owned logistics centre in the Middle East

DB Schenker has opened its first owned facility in the Middle East. The logistics centre is located at the Dubai Logistics City (DLC) in the UAE. It is the first facility out of a three phase growth plan designed to provide DB Schenker with a footprint in the DLC of approximately 25,000 sq m by 2019.

The logistics centre has a warehouse space of 7,200 sq m with two mezzanine levels dedicated to value added services and spare parts operations. It contains temperature-controlled areas as well as ambient temperature zones.

“Dubai is our main hub in the region, and investing in the DLC was a strategical step to strengthen our network and to complete the DB Schenker service coverage in UAE. Being located only a few metres away from the runways of Al Maktoum airport and Emirates Road and only 15 minutes away from the Seaport enables us to offer first class integrated transportation and warehousing solutions for our global customers,” said Ako Djaf, DB Schenker, Regional Head of Contract Logistics / SCM, Near Middle East/Africa.
