Damco launches second weekly China-Europe rail freight service

Building on the growing success of its existing rail offering connecting China and France, Damco is introducing a new weekly East-West rail service in response to customer demand.

Kasper Krog, Global Head of Rail at Damco commented, “We know the pressures our customers are under to reduce the time it takes to move their goods from source to shop. We’ve seen an incredible rise in demand for rail, which is a reliable and speedy alternative to air freight.”

The service is some 20 days faster than ocean freight, though the cost of it has not been disclosed.

Damco launched its first East-West rail forwarding service last November, an 80-container block train.

Damco Rail was established in 2014 initially with a focus on the high-tech sector, but now serves customers from a broader range of sectors including retail and lifestyle. Besides China-Europe services, its rail solutions include cross-border truck-rail services from Vietnam to Europe via China; and short sea-rail from Taiwan/ASEAN to Europe via China.
