Damco appoints new CEO

Klaus Rud Sejling, current Head of East West Trades in Maersk Line, has been appointed CEO of Damco with effect from 1 October. Current Damco CEO, Hanne B. Sørensen, has decided to leave the Maersk Group.

Klaus Rud Sejling joined the Group in 1997 and has worked in various roles in Maersk Tankers and Maersk Line before joining Maersk Logistics as Branch Manager and later as CCO for Greater China. Most recently, he has been Head of Group Strategy and COO and CCO of Maersk Tankers, before re-joining Maersk Line as Head of East West Trades in 2014. Regarding his appointment, Sejling said, “I am thrilled to join Damco at such an exciting time, to continue to drive growth and leverage synergies across the Transport and Logistics division.”

“Klaus Rud Sejling has had a very impressive 20-year-career with the Maersk Group and has held a number of leadership positions in many of our Business Units, including a 4-year-period in Maersk Logistics – today called Damco,” says Søren Skou, Maersk Group CEO. Skou also thanked Hanne Sørensen for her contributions: “I regret Hanne has chosen to leave Maersk, however I respect her decision to explore new opportunities. I would like to thank her for her many contributions to Damco and to A.P. Møller – Mærsk and I wish her success in the future”.

Reflecting on her decision to leave Damco, Hanne Sørensen says: “After 22 years with A.P. Møller – Mærsk, I have decided to leave my position as CEO for Damco. It has been a great journey and I have been lucky to meet inspirational leaders along the way who had great confidence in my capabilities. I enjoyed my role at Damco and will miss working with thousands of colleagues who have shared the journey with me as well as the great interactions with our customers. Damco is in a good place and has an exciting role to play to drive customer focus in the new division, Transport & Logistics.”
