ByBox unveils smartphone app and Bluetooth App Box

ByBox introduces Stockonnect, a smartphone app used in conjunction with a Bluetooth App Box to better enable businesses to manage the delivery of parts to large worksites with multiple buildings and individual drop-off points.

The technology enables any authorised user to deliver parts into one of ByBox’s App Boxes, a Bluetooth enabled locker that can receive, store and dispense parts to engineers. The technology is underpinned by ByBox’s in-house Thinventory software, a management platform to organise the delivery and swap-out of Service Level Agreement-critical parts. The App Boxes operate using long-life lithium batteries and can therefore be sited in a host of locations as there is no dependency on conventional power sources.

Delivery companies can register with ByBox and use the Stockonnect app to deliver parts to one of the App Boxes, using the driver’s smartphone camera, allowing them to scan the tracking label in to the App Box. This in turn creates a notification to the recipient, advising the time and location of the delivery. The recipient then collects the part using the app to scan the part out of the App Box.

The App Box acts as single convenient drop off location, reducing stock loss and the amount of time spent by couriers tracking down the correct reception or engineer to deliver to, whilst cutting the amount of waiting time for the engineer. Using real-time technology, businesses can assign a collection to the most suitable engineer, and no time is wasted tracking down parts to fix, or urgent pieces of broken equipment for repair.

App Boxes are open 24/7 for delivery and collection. Equipped with full inventory functionality, including auto-replenishment of parts and a complete reporting suite, ByBox claims Stockonnect also enables business to hold strategic inventory on-site, which is fully visible to businesses to further improve SLA performance.

Stuart Miller, CEO and co-founder of ByBox, commented, “Over our many years in the industry, we have found that a key frustration for businesses with large sites has been the efficient swap out of critical parts on a daily basis. Not only do parts get lost, but the time it takes for both engineer and courier to meet is costing businesses dearly. This applies equally to the delivery as well as the return part. With Stockonnect these issues are eliminated meaning better engineer productivity, reduced logistics costs and less inventory. It’s a global solution for a global problem.”
