Geodis UK, part of the Geodis group, plans to open a new hub in Northampton, UK. It is expected the move will allow Geodis to centralize its European network operations with all existing import/ export linehaul activities being transferred from High Wycombe, Birmingham and Lutterworth, UK. The Lutterworth network branch has also moved to Northampton.
The new 50,000 sq ft site spans four acres and is to serve as a cross dock facility for all European activity with all European exports and imports directed to the site reducing trunking and handling of export and import goods.
Jamie Cuthbert, Managing Director, Geodis UK said, “This move forms part of exciting plans to restructure our network within the UK and to further grow our business and develop existing sites for the benefit of our customers. We want to be the growth partner of choice for our clients and this new hub will enable us to take a step closer to being exactly that. The operational efficiencies this move presents us with are significant, and we look forward to passing these onto our customers.”
It is expected the existing Geodis network sites across the UK will continue to operate while the Geodis full load and logistics business lines will also remain unchanged.
