DSV announced that ROCKWOOL, an international manufacturer of insulation materials, has opened a new distribution centre in Tianjin, China, and awarded DSV the operating contract. The facility comprises 13,000 sq m of prime logistics space and will provide ROCKWOOL direct access to the construction market in northern China. ROCKWOOL estimates that 10,000 containers of stone wool insulation will be sold in the first year of operation.
DSV already handles the logistics operations of the ROCKWOOL production plant in Guangzhou, China. It will now go on to run transport from the Ghangzhou production location to Tianjin, where it will also handle distribution.
“The rising domestic consumption in the Asian region is increasing the demand for both high-quality goods and their transport and handling. We have been in the region for many years, so it is only natural that we use our experience and expertise to go where the demand is,” said Tilo Raab, Vice President Commercial, DSV Asia.
