DHL Freight announced that it has expanded its Eurapid service across Europe after nine new terminals were added to the network in November 2014. The day-definite service for LTL shipments up to 2.5 tons is now available at 50 terminals in 17 countries and DHL claims that it covers 80% of all business addresses in Europe.
“Since the launch of this premium service one year ago, we have doubled the number of terminals in the network and significantly improved our lead time. With the day-definite lead times and fast connections, Eurapid is the preferred solution for our customers from the technology, automotive and life sciences and healthcare sectors,” said Amadou Diallo, Chief Executive Officer of DHL Freight. “We will continue to expand the Eurapid network and, by the end of 2015, will be able to offer our customers this highly-reliable service with close to full European coverage.”
The road freight network of DHL has been expanded by one station each in France, UK, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Spain and Slovakia. Additionally, two stations in Portugal, at Lisbon and Porto, have been integrated into the network. The company is looking to bring on the remaining terminals by the end of 2015, based on market and demand.
