The CKYHE Alliance between COSCO, “K” LINE, Yang Ming, Hanjin Shipping, and Evergreen Line, has announced that it intends to expand its cooperation scope to US Trades. Therefore CKYHE has submitted a formal letter to the Chinese Ministry of Transport and filed with the US Federal Maritime Commission a filing agreement to cover US trades. It has also informed the EU Commission of developments.
In US trades, CKYHE will follow the same pattern of cooperation that the alliance members have successfully used in the Asia/ Europe, Mediterranean trades over 2014. This expanded cooperation is expected to provide the carriers with greater operational flexibility and will permit each of them to better serve their customers, offering wider port coverage, increased frequency of sailings and stable transit times.
Upon regulatory approval, the parties will discuss and agree their cooperation with a target implementation date of the spring 2015.
