Bolloré wins business with Heineken affiliate in Ethiopia

Bolloré Logistics

Bolloré Logistics was chosen to provide logistics services to Ibecor, a Heineken affiliated company supplying breweries in Africa and Middle East.

The operation involved transporting two out-of-gauge boilers from Antwerp to Harar, Ethiopia, via Djibouti port. Once unloaded in the port, Bolloré Logistics teams managed the customs clearance and the transport to the final destination, some 430 km from the port.

The two 28.5-tonne boilers represented a volume of 183,532 cu m. They were unloaded on two 40 ft roll-trailers then carried out with a reach-stacker and secured on trailers with eight steel chain lashings.

In 2015, Heineken launched a €110m plant in Klinto, Ethiopia, with a production capacity of 1.5m hectolitres (approximately 264m pints), making it the largest brewery in the country.
