Bolloré Logistics to manage logistics for Siemens in Nigeria

Bolloré Transport & Logistics and supply chain services company Czarnikow are collaborating to support Bolloré’s sustainable development in East Africa through the VIVE Sustainable Supply Programme.

The Industrial Project teams of Bolloré Logistics Germany and Bolloré Transport & Logistics Nigeria have been awarded by Siemens for the complete transportation and logistics scope of the Azura Edo IPP project in Nigeria.

The project consists of the construction of a 450 MW Gas Turbine Power Station, located in the vicinity of Benin City, approximately 280 km east of Lagos. The construction period is due to run from end of 2016 until early 2018. Total project volumes are estimated to be in excess of 30,000 freight tonnes.

The operation involves the transportation of the Engines and Generators, of which the heaviest individual unit weighs 220 tonnes. The first two heavy lift vessels loaded in Europe in December 2016 just two weeks apart and the first of these vessels reached Koko port on the 1st of January 2017.

The first Engine and Generator were successfully discharged directly onto the modular trailers of Bolloré Transport & Logistics Nigeria and their heavy lift contractor and completed the 70 km journey to the final site two days after discharge, where they will be eventually offloaded onto the pre-laid foundations at the power plant.
