Arvato opens healthcare logistics facility in Hamburg

Arvato has opened a medical equipment logistics centre in Hamburg, taking its capacity at Allermohe from 7,200 sq m to over 10,000 sq m.

From the site, Arvato ships medical devices all over the world, both as single parcels and whole pallets. Over 22,000 items, from medical devices such as endoscopes, laparoscopes and electro-surgical devices to small spare parts are stored at the site.

The logistics provider has a five-year rental agreement with Logicor for the new facility.

One of the site’s long-standing customers is Olympus, a manufacturer of optical and digital precision technology. Arvato operates both the distribution centre for Olympus, the marketing and sales company operating throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as well as the central warehouse of its regional Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe production centre.

Joachim Schmidt, General Manager Supply Chain Management, Olympus Europa SE & Co. KG., commented, “We are delighted to be expanding our warehouse space at Arvato just four years after the move to Allermohe. The company gives us optimum support so we can also meet the logistics requirements of our role as EMEA headquarters.”
