Amazon to open fulfilment centre near Kansas City

Amazon, Inc. has announced plans to open a new fulfilment centre in Edgerton, Kansas, US. The facility is expected to create approximately 1,000 full-time hourly positions, plus many managerial and support roles to support customer fulfilment. In Kansas, Amazon currently operates existing facilities in Lenexa.

Akash Chauhan, Amazon’s vice president of North American operations, said of the announcement, “We’re excited to bring 1,000 great full-time jobs with benefits to the Kansas City region and proud to further invest in the state with this new fulfilment centre.” Chauhan added, “We are grateful for the enthusiasm of our many state and local partners who have supported Amazon in bringing a new fulfilment centre to Kansas. This has been a true team effort.”

Amazon employees at the more than 800,000 sq ft Edgerton fulfilment centre are expected to pick, pack and ship large items to customers such as televisions, sports equipment or kayaks, for example.
