DHL opens the third life sciences and healthcare competency centre in Germany


DHL Global Forwarding announced the official opening of a new pharmaceutical logistics centre in Mörfelden-Walldorf, Germany. The new centre is located near the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main airport and is expected to serve as a hub for the transport and transport preparation of temperature-controlled pharmaceutical and medicinal products.

The new logistics centre consists of a total 33,000 sq m of warehouse space including a 600 sq m competency centre with two different temperature-controlled areas. One area is intended for pharmaceutical products that must be stored at constant temperatures between 2 to 8 degrees, while the second one due to be dedicated to a controlled temperature range of between 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. DHL also announced the centre meets the latest safety standards and complies with the new Good Distribution Practice guidelines of the European Union.

Thilo Specht, Vice President Airfreight Germany, DHL Global Forwarding said, “In this new life sciences and healthcare centre we will be handling every aspect of transport and warehouse management for our pharmaceuticals customers and their air freight shipments,” adding, “Although our focus in Mörfelden is on customers from the life sciences and healthcare sectors, at the Frankfurt airport we are also coordinating transport solutions for other industries such as automotive, chemical and technology.”
