Damco doubles warehouse capacity in Belgium

Damco announced the opening of its new 15,500 sq m warehouse in Willebroek, Belgium located between Antwerp and Brussels. The warehouse is accessible by barge and close to the Trimodal Container Terminal Belgium. Adjacent to an existing warehouse of 16,000 sq m, it almost doubles Damco’s warehouse capacity in the area. The facilities are expected to serve lifestyle and retail brands that import goods into the EMEA region.

Jean-Baptiste Elslander, CCO Damco Benelux said, “One reason we need more warehouse space is that the business of our customers continues to expand,” adding “But the new warehouse will also enable us to grow our DC Bypass product: an advanced form of supply chain optimisation that allows customers to eliminate their distribution centre from the supply chain, making it more efficient and responsive. And while the majority of goods handled in the warehouse is imported into the region, there is also a considerable volume of products that were produced in EMEA and for which Damco provides consolidation services, preparing this cargo for transport to, for example, Africa or the Americas.”
