Nigel Smith named new CEO of DB Schenker Rail Netherlands


Nigel Smith has been appointed by the board of DB Schenker Rail AG to take charge of DB Schenker Rail Netherlands N.V. as from 1 October.

Smith will succeed Aart Klompe, who will remain at DB Schenker with major accounts in the Port of Rotterdam. Nigel Smith was previously COO at Etihad Rail DB in Abu Dhabi, a joint venture launched by DB Schenker Rail and Etihad Rail in the United Arab Emirates. He had also been a member of the board of DB Schenker Rail UK.

Employing 650 people, DB Schenker Rail Netherlands N.V operates wagonload transport where mining and chemical products account for much of its transport operations. The company provides connections between the seaports of Antwerp, Rotterdam and Amsterdam and across Germany.
