Tony Jakobsen has been appointed as Managing Director for TNT UK and Ireland’s international business.Jakobsen began his career in the industry as a driver and has worked in a variety of roles at TNT over the last 27 years, including a number of a number of key senior positions. These include the role of Business Development Director, Domestics and Managing Director Italy. In his position as Managing Director Italy he demonstrated transformational leadership to turn around the business performance and implement the company’s Outlook strategy.
In his new role Jakobsen will be focussing on the continued delivery of TNT’s Outlook strategy and driving profitable growth across the UK and Ireland international business. He will lead TNT’s team of experts who are completely focussed on the shipping requirements of customers who trade internationally, enabling them to grow effectively by providing solutions that are tailored for the markets in which they operate.
Commenting on his appointment, Jakobsen stated, “I’m delighted to be joining the UK international business at such a key time. A number of significant investments have been made over the last six months such as the guaranteed pre 12:00 delivery service to all zip codes in Germany, a daily, scheduled road service to Istanbul and the introduction of first call resolution within the customer services environment. I look forward to building on these successes and growing the business in the second half of the year.”
