FedEx Express scales up operations at Stansted


FedEx Express has announced that capacity at it Stansted Airport terminal has reached 7,000 packages per hour after 30 years of operations at the UK airport.

Since it opened in 1985 the international gateway at Stansted has grown in capacity, increasing from four employees to approximately 540. Now encompassing a total area of 22,000 sq m, the gateway has capacity for four wide-bodied aircraft and provides services to more than 220 countries and territories worldwide.

“Over the last three decades, our international gateway has been vital in helping UK businesses connect to global markets and realise their international potential,” said Trevor Hoyle, FedEx Express’ Vice President, Operations Northern Europe. “We’re proud that our UK operation plays such an important role, not just in Europe, but globally.”
