Mitsui charters 178,000 cu m vessel for Cameron LNG Export Project


Mitsui & Co., Ltd. annmounced that it has entered into an agreement to charter a 178,000 cu m vessel for the Cameron LNG Export Project from a joint venture between Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd., (“K” Line) Mitsui and Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The agreement will secure the vessel for Mitsui for a maximum of 25 years following its delivery in 2020.

Mitsui will use the 178,000 cu m vessel to transport LNG from the Cameron LNG Export Project in the US; a project part funded by Mitsui. The vessel will be built in Imabari’s shipyards in Japan and is will be equipped with an electronically controlled dual fuel gas injection diesel engine.

The vessel will be collectively owned by the aforementioned joint venture.
