Ryder goes paperless with new rental and maintenance apps

Ryder System announced that it has launched several new mobile tablet apps that Ryder employees will use to make improve the process of renting a commercial truck from Ryder. The apps will make the whole process paperless.

Customers complete and sign all forms all on an Android tablet. Ryder rental representatives use the same tablet to take vehicle photos to document vehicle condition, as well as to confirm availability.

Ryder has also implemented a maintenance app to ensure that its rental fleet remains in optimal condition. The app helps the Ryder rental team determine the root cause of vehicle issues, as well as help to identify proactive service actions to prevent future breakdowns.#

Both applications were built on the Appian platform. Appian provides a business process management-based application platform in the cloud.

“Ryder’s commercial rental customers rely on us to keep their businesses running and their time is very valuable,” said Rich Mohr, Vice President & Global Product Manager, Rental Operations for Ryder. “We are committed to continually enhance the Ryder rental experience, and our customers are telling us that these technology investments are already making a difference.”
