Hamburg Süd closes takeover of CCNI’s container liner activities


Hamburg Süd announced that it has completed the takeover of the container liner activities of Compañía Chilena de Navegación Interoceánica S.A., (CCNI). The takeover includes the related general agency functions of Agunsa Agencias Universales S.A. with headquarters in Valparaiso and Santiago in Chile.

The closing took place at the shipping line’s headquarters in the presence of management representatives from CCNI and Agunsa. The acquisition had previously been approved by the relevant antitrust authorities. The sale and purchase agreement was signed by Hamburg Süd and CCNI on February 14, 2015.

Hamburg Süd will continue to operate the CCNI container liner business under its brand name on the main trade routes between the west coast of South America, Asia, Europe and North America respectively.
