SDV launches hybrid delivery shuttle in Singapore

SDV has announced the launch of its first hybrid shuttle to operate from its Green Hub, a distribution centre which SDV claims is eco-friendly, in order to serve the fashion and luxury industry in Singapore.

“The new hybrid shuttle is a key milestone under the company’s commitment to design innovative and cleaner supply chain solutions two years after the opening of our Green Hub”, said Fabien Giordano, Managing Director of SDV Singapore.

The Mitsubishi Canter Eco Hybrid Euro 5 was selected as the vehicle to meet the company’s energy objectives with the required loading capacity by combining an efficient diesel engine with an electric motor. The vehicle will cover nearly 26,000 kms per year.

The vehicle is said to offer a 23% reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to standard vehicles. It also reduces emissions of suspended particles and nitrogen oxides by as much as 30% in comparison to a conventional diesel-powered truck. In addition to reducing atmospheric emissions, the quality of sound environment is significantly improved for the users’ comfort in both loading and unloading bays.

The hybrid shuttle adds to the already existing one in service in Germany. The initiative is part of the SDV SAVE PROGRAM, a logistics solution that offers clients the opportunity to measure the carbon footprint of their shipments, to reduce CO2 emissions through the conception of eco-solutions and to support sustainable development initiatives through voluntary carbon offsetting projects around the world.
