OSell, a Chinese e-commerce company, announced that it has acquired TDPRO, a Russian supply chain management company providing logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management services. The acquisition aims to integrate OSell’s Chinese supply chain with overseas logistics and retail resources and is expected to improve cross-border e-commerce connectivity.
Kevin Fenn, Chief Executive Officer of OSell, suggested that this acquisition would, “Greatly promote the development of Sino-Russia trade.” OSell plans to build local experience centres, warehouses, and after-sale service centres in ‘One Belt And One Road’ cities, following the Chinese government’s development strategy for the Silk Road. OSell expects the development of these locations to help increase its market share in cross-border e-commerce.
In addition to the developments along the Silk Road economic belt OSell will also use the acquisition to help it create the infrastructure to sell Chinese goods across Russia, with its first product experience centre to open in Moscow by April 2015. The company has stated that its long term goal is to, “Remove the restriction of category, price and logistics on Chinese exporting products, and promote the upgrade of Chinese manufacturing industry”.
